Going to West Rock Ridge State Park near Long Pond is a splendid thing to do, and don't leave Long Pond without first going for a hike along the Naugatuck Trail. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Long Pond dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. Trail is always a glorious adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Gentile's Camp Ground while you're here at Long Pond. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from New Haven-Milford here; nothing beats
kicking back at Sea Bluff Beach. Pine Rock is an interesting thing to observe since you're here at Long Pond, and a swamp like Beaver Pond Meadows near Long Pond has lots of exciting things to see. One of the principal marks of
the surroundings of Long Pond is Allington Hill, and Prospect Beach is a beach nearby that you can check out. This lake is so wonderful. Golf can be played at Orange Hills Country Club, and the snow is great at Powder Ridge. The
high level of precipitation makes Long Pond a relatively wet spot; May is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Do stop at Center Pond right next door to Long Pond, it's
a gorgeous lake, and do go to Maltby Lakes North Dam since you're here. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Mount Southington, and Iris Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at. There are perfect places to explore along the Quinnipiac Trail; The Study at Yale is a nice place to get some rest.
