Everybody close by loves skiing at Mount Southington, and magnificent hiking is available along the Quinnipiac Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Belden Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth visiting; Lily Pond is not the only site close by, Konolds Pond is a close by lake. Camping is available at National Computer Camps, and there's good hiking along the Naugatuck Trail. At Lily Pond during the summertime months highs are in the 80's while

| | night lows are regularly in the 50's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lily Pond are in the 10's. Beaches are good; and Sea Bluff Beach in the vicinity of Lily Pond is no exception, and if you've had enough of Lily Pond, Lake Wintergreen is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can check out Lake Wintergreen Dam, and no need to travel far to check out interesting stuff | |

Lily Pond is its proximity to Prospect Beach, and why not camp at Gentile's Camp Ground while you're here at Lily Pond. Lily Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May; February meanwhile
is the driest month. Enjoy a round of golf at Orange Hills Country Club not far from Lily Pond. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff at Lily Pond. You're sure to encounter some friendly folks
from New Haven-Milford here, and West Rock Ridge State Park is a good site to stretch your legs a bit. Don't leave Lily Pond without first going for a hike along the Regicides Trail, and after a long day outdoors Econo Lodge Conference Center is a great location to spend a night or two.

Maltby Lake
 | Call the Regional Water Authority and ask for Anita in Recreation, 203-624-6671. She'll set you up with a permit. Or you can go online, www.rwater.com. Maltby Lakes are made up of three lakes located off of Route 34 in West Haven. The permit also gives you access to Lake Saltonstall and Lake Chamberlain for fishing. There is much more than fishing but you can start off there. Good Luck!...I am looking for directions, so I can go fishing my girl says it is a beautiful spot.... |

Lake Chamberlain
 | Access only with Regional Water Authority permit (25$/year). Off Rt. 69, turn down Morris Road at Bethany/Woodbridge border. Left at stopsign onto dirt road, second gated entrance on right. Fishing, hiking/running, horseback riding. Good sized lake for the area, however boating is strictly forbidden. Gorgeous, peaceful surroundings (no houses), and wildlife abounds. The deer often tolerate people closeby. The fishing can be good for the experienced bass fisherman willing to hike around to the various small, scattered areas where casting is possible. These spots are often choked with brush so accurate casting, texas-rigged soft plastic baits, and at least 8lb test line are a must. I've caught a few 4-5lb bass and some good sized pickerel.... |
