What a location this is for outdoors people. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff right next door to Leonard Pond. If the weather is great here at Leonard Pond, you can go for a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and Macedonia Brook State Park is a good spot. Leonard Pond is a good       spot of normal rain; June is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is January. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Leonard Pond without first checking out Grand Staircase; camping is available at Buck's Rock Camp. Drift down the rapids of Tenmile in a kayak, and why not head up to Thunder Ridge and strap some skis to your feet. During the long summer days highs here at Leonard Pond get into the 80's. For the duration of the                  dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's; nighttime lows at Leonard Pond throughout the winter commonly dip into the 10's. Get wet paddling on Housatonic River, and Red Carpet Inn & Suites New Milford is a magnificent spot to get some rest. A day on the slopes of Mohawk Mountain is just what you need. Lakes are great; Hatch Pond is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Leonard Pond. You'll meet a lot of folks from Torrington here, and at Leonard Pond you can see Mount Algo. This lake is so wonderful.
