Go to Laurel Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. A beautiful lake like Highland Lake next to Laurel Lake is a tremendous site to go to, and a good nearby hotel is Days Inn - Torrington. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Laurel Lake without popping by Burr Pond State Park, and White Pines Campground is a glorious campground nearby. If you need a location to stay Quality Inn & Suites is a great choice, and needless to say Mallory Brook flows through this area. On a tremendous day at Laurel Lake you can take a hike along the Tunxis Trail, and Farmington River has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot close by. August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. You can take a little visit to Laurel Lake Dam while you're here at Laurel Lake, and West Hill is easy to spot from
Laurel Lake. During the warm days of summer at Laurel Lake temperatures are usually in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's while the cold winter
nights at Laurel Lake are in the 10's. Do check out Barkhamsted Reservoir near Laurel Lake, it's a lovely lake, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Mattatuck Trail. If you don’t have a problem getting covered with
water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Farmington River - Riverton, and there are plenty of folks from Torrington here at Laurel Lake. Having a pleasant time at Laurel Lake is painless. Otis Ridge is a very popular ski area in close proximity.
