Here at Lake Winchester there are plenty of folks from Torrington; a pleasant swamp in close proximity to Lake Winchester is Grant Swamp. In case you don’t mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Still River; the summit of Grant Hill can be observed from Lake Winchester. A wonderful place for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Lake Winchester is Sandy Brook River; a good spot to camp here at Lake Winchester is Burr Pond State Park.

| | If you need a site to stay Yankee Pedlar Inn is a fine choice, and if you've had enough of Lake Winchester, Winchester Lake is close by. Lake Winchester sees pretty high levels of precipitation; during August this area sees the most rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. to Lake Winchester. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Mohawk Mountain while you're here, and do take a hike on the Mattatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody loves John A. Minetto State Park; Lake
Winchester is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Laurel Crest Campground is a glorious local campground. Be careful coming to Lake Winchester, you might not ever wanna go home again. Going for a hike along the Wild Cat
Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity; glorious water scenery is available at Park Pond Dike close to Lake Winchester. Through the long summer days highs here at Lake Winchester get into the 80's. Summer nighttime
lows dip down to the 50's. During the winter highs are regularly in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Lake Winchester through the wintertime commonly plunge into the 0's.
