Everybody nearby loves skiing at Mount Southington. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Lake Quassapaug has to offer, you can camp at Black Rock State Park. Lake Quassapaug is a wet spot that gets a lot of rain; the month with most of the rain is June, and the driest month is February. A lake close by is Kelley Pond; Woodbury is a fine local ski area. This lake is so wonderful. There is a tremendous hiking trail next to Lake Quassapaug called

| | the Mattatuck Trail, and you can stay the night at Branchbrook Campground. Lake Quassapaug is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and don't forget to visit Big Cove since you're here. Swamp is an out of the ordinary swamp in the vicinity of Lake Quassapaug. At Lake Quassapaug throughout the long summer days highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Throughout the winter
highs are regularly in the 20's while Lake Quassapaug night low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. Lake Quassapaug in fact is in the middle of a pretty outdoors paradise. A nice nearby hotel is Heritage Hotel, and paddling on Shepaug River is so much fun.
