The land is owned by homeowners with house further up from the lake. Therefore the lake has the look of a wilderness lake. The lake is privately owned but with permission I am sure you can go out on the lake and do some real fine fishing. Everybody close by loves skiing at Mohawk Mountain, and a good beach nearby is Morris Town Beach. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Tollgate Hill Inn is a great choice, and a great place for whitewater paddling is Shepaug River. This lake is so wonderful. There are magnificent places to discover along the Mattatuck Trail, and you'll come across a beautiful lake called Bantam River Reservoir. You'll       meet a lot of people from Torrington here, and why not explore nearby Still Brook if you're here at Lake Floren. Lake Floren regularly gets a lot of rainfall; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. This site rocks, just look at all the exciting stuff to do near Lake Floren. Hemlock Hill Camp Resort and Co-operative is a great campground nearby, and close by you stumble on the Mattatuck Trail which is a fine                  hiking trail. Going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a splendid adventure, and you can run the rapids of Bantam River. This lake is so wonderful. A charming lake like Milton Pond near Lake Floren is a good place to visit, and Litchfield Town Beach is a beach nearby that you can check out. So much enjoyable stuff to do at Lake Floren, so little time. Mt. Tom State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Lake Floren; you can stay the night at Valley In The Pines Campground. On a pleasant day you can have a look at Ripley Swamp, a swamp in close proximity to Lake Floren, and a perfect close by hotel is Days Inn - Torrington. Lake Floren Dam is an interesting thing to check out, and hey, Gotta ski right? Woodbury is a great spot to do that. Summertime highs at Lake Floren usually tend to be in the 80's, and the night is slightly colder of course, mostly in the 50's. Throughout the wintertime highs are frequently in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lake Floren are in the 10's.
