If you need a location to stay Twin Tree Inn is a tremendous choice, and some nearby water includes Mann Brook. From a rain point of view Lake Candlewood is a quite normal place; the wettest month of the year is regularly June, that's the one that rains the most, and January is when it's the driest. At Lake Candlewood you can observe Bogus Hill, and Arrowhead Point is nearby and always great to stop by. For the period of the days of summer here at Lake Candlewood,

Scenic Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, East Aspetuck River offers some great whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. Buck's Rock Camp is a great campground nearby, needless to say you could also stop at Squantz
Pond since you're here; it's not far at all. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Tenmile, and perhaps you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Forest Lake is just a very short distance away.
If you like skiing, you're in luck; Woodbury is next to Lake Candlewood, and if you're a golfer then a magnificent nearby course is Candlewood Valley Country Club. Whohoo, so many fun things in one place! Lake Candlewood rules!
If you came for an overnight stay Kettletown State Park is a wonderful spot to camp, and the snow is great at Thunder Ridge. All the outdoors fun things near Lake Candlewood will keep you coming back over and over. A wonderful nearby hotel is Maron Hotel & Suites, and Lake Candlewood is not far at all from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown.
