    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Johnson Pond. The summit of Mares Hill can be spotted from Johnson Pond, and camping is available at Wolf's Den Family Campground. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Johnson Pond. During your stay at Johnson Pond do pop by nearby Quotonset Beach, and a swamp like Mine Swamp in the neighborhood of Johnson Pond has lots of exciting things to see. Any time is a good time at Johnson Pond if you have a thing about  
   the outdoors. Not far from Johnson Pond you hit upon Money Point, and McVeagh Pond is a nearby lake that you could explore.
Go for a hike on the Mattabesset Trail; if you're here, you could also check out delightful Rintoul Pond. This lake is so wonderful. A day at Middle Beach close to Johnson Pond is time well spent, and you don’t have to go far from Johnson Pond to make out the water at Johnson Pond Dam. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Salmon
 
               River.
Super 8 Motel - Old Saybrook is a perfect place to get some rest, and do put some time aside to spend at Cold Spring if you're here at Johnson Pond. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Waters Edge Resort and Spa is a perfect choice, and you undeniably must go to Selden Neck State Park while you're here. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Hammonasset River, and an afternoon playing golf at Hillside Links Golf Course is always a bliss.
Spring Lot Brook is a wonderful local stream, and why not camp at River Road Campground if you're here at Johnson Pond. Johnson Pond is a wet spot that gets a great deal of precipitation; May is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the summertime months here at Johnson Pond, high temperatures generally get into the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Johnson Pond tend to be in the 10's.

THe fishermen aren't nice here, especially in the Fly fishing area, we caught a lot of heck from them last year. MAde the trip no fun, I won't return.
