     If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn & Suites Dayville is a wonderful choice, and whitewater paddling is great on Natchaug River. West Thompson Campground is a wonderful local campground; Roseland Lake is a fine lake nearby. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors amusing stuff the area close to John Stone Pond has to offer. Hiking is a popular thing to do around John Stone Pond; Walkabout Trail is a pleasant local trail, and John Stone Pond is near  
   Mashamoquet Brook State Park which is a pretty place. In the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Quinebaug River, and there's always Shepherds Pond Dam to take a look at in the neighborhood of John Stone Pond.
John Stone Pond beyond doubt is in the middle of a picturesque outdoors paradise. Woodstock Town Beach is a beach near John Stone Pond that you can check out, and you can go for a hike on the Border Trail.

Much rain falls at John Stone Pond; November is the wettest month with most rain; February is the month with the least moisture. Throughout the summertime months here at John Stone Pond, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at John Stone Pond.
Good hiking is available along the Munyan Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Gravelly Brook is a magnificent location to take a look at. Lakes? Sure, Sampson Pond is close by.
