Get yourself into a kayak and hit Roaring Brook River, and after a long day outdoors Passport Inn and Suites Middletown is a great spot to spend a night or two. All through the days of summer highs here at Jobs Pond get into the 80's; the nighttime is a tad chillier of course, frequently in the 50's. Mattabesset Trail is a great hiking trail near Jobs Pond, and there are some nice whitewater spots on Salmon River. Jobs Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month is
February. Yep, outdoors amusing stuff to do are beyond doubt bountiful here at Jobs Pond. Getting to Rattlesnake Brook from Jobs Pond is simple, and since you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Hartford-West Hartford-East
Hartford. While you're here at Jobs Pond you have to visit Bodkin Rock; an afternoon playing golf at Portland Golf Course is always a pleasure. You clearly should love Jobs Pond. You'll need more than a day to discover everything

Hill is available from Jobs Pond, and a good nearby hotel is Inn At Middletown. Powder Ridge is a very popular ski area around here; Jobs Pond is not the only site nearby, Hallocks Pond is a nearby lake.

Metacomet Trail
 | 17 miles away I finally located the trail entrance about 20 feet past a dirt road gate on the right that I had been using to get to the ridge line. Thanks for the help!...Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture. The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road. That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain. Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park. The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods. The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection. Thanks.... |
