Lakes are fine; Shingle Mill Pond is a lake that's close to Horse Pond. There's so much to do here at Horse Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Pequot Ledge Campgrounds is a good place for that, and dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Niantic. This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Fraser Brook is a stream you can take a look at while here;       a magnificent place close by is Toad Hollow. Hilltop Inn-Niantic is a good site to get some rest; there's whitewater on Natchaug River for all you adrenaline people. For the period of the days of summer highs here at Horse Pond get into the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Horse Pond drop into the 10's. A lot of precipitation falls                  at Horse Pond; during November this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Aces High RV Park, and since you're here you can play some golf at Cedar Ridge Golf Course. Shingle Mill Pond Dam has tremendous water scenery and it's near Horse Pond. What a place this is for outdoors people. During your spree to Horse Pond you'll meet some people from Norwich-New London for sure, and Beckwith Hill can be seen from Horse Pond.
