Whitewater                  paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Roaring Brook River, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Mattabesset Trail. Through the months of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at High Hill Pond; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to High Hill Pond. Stay the night at Little City Campground, and a quick trip to North Branch Spoon Shop Brook is without doubt a magnificent idea. You're sure to run into some friendly people from New Haven-Milford here, and the skiing at Powder Ridge is great. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the beach if you want, Dossin Park Beach is practically right here; the Washington Trail is a perfect hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Candlewood Suites Hartford/Meriden, Ct is a pleasant spot to get some rest, and Wadsworth Falls State Park is a splendid place to stop at on a pretty day.
