Taking a little spree to nearby North Bay is a perfect idea, and a round of golf at nearby Stonybrook Golf Course is a good way to kill some time. A lake nearby is Beaver Pond, and why not camp at Looking Glass Hill Campgrounds if you're here at Herron Pond. After a long day outdoors Tollgate Hill Inn is a glorious spot to spend a night or two,       and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Mohawk Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. On a delightful day you can explore Morris Town Beach close to Herron Pond, and there's brilliant hiking along the Mattatuck Trail. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Dry warm beds await you at Yankee Pedlar Inn, and don't leave without stopping by Black Rock State Park. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to                  do around Herron Pond; Naugatuck Trail is a great local trail; while you're here, you could stop by Miry Brook. Don't leave Herron Pond without first going for a hike along the Mattatuck Trail, and you can hit the slopes at Woodbury close by. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Shepaug River; there are some good whitewater spots on Bantam River. That right there is loads already, but it continues; Herron Pond has it all. Cozy Hills Campground is a tremendous local campground, and on a perfect day you can explore Cranberry Swamp, a swamp near Herron Pond. A day at gorgeous Litchfield Town Beach near Herron Pond is a good thing to do, and folks from Torrington love to come here. Herron Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; throughout the month of June you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is February. High temperatures at Herron Pond through the warm months are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's.
