Take a look at close by Lyons Swamp, and whitewater paddling is magnificent on East Aspetuck River. Livermore Pond is a wonderful lake near Hedmons Pond; in case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Norwalk River. Near Hedmons Pond you stumble on Pleasant Valley which is a glorious site to have a look at, and you'll meet a lot of people from Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk here. This lake is so wonderful. | | at Mountain Workshop, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Thunder Ridge is relatively near. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Kettletown State Park is a good place to camp, and after a long day outdoors Stony Hill Inn is a good site to spend a night or two. Hedmons Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and January is the month with the least moisture. High temperatures | |

at Hedmons Pond through the warm days of summer are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows at Hedmons Pond all through
the winter ordinarily descend into the 10's. There are other sites here than Hedmons Pond, for example Falls Pond, and you unquestionably must pop by Collis P. Huntington State Park if you're here. If only every location had this
much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great globe it would be. A day on the slopes of Woodbury is just what you need; Days Inn Bethel - Danbury is a good spot to get some rest. Man, is there plenty of amusing things to do near

Ella Fohs Camp Pond
 | 17 miles away I attended Ella Fohs as a camper and a counselor. The time was early 1950s - 1955...I was at the camp from 1963-1969. It shaped my childhood. My mother was there when she was a kid too. I found her name carved into one of the bunks on the rafters: Sydell Freiman 1949! Shame it's not used anymore for innercity poor kids, like we were. Ellen Knebel...I'm sad to hear that the camp itself is not there any more. I worked there in 69-73...I began working on ''the senior side'' and we livrf in ''the mansion'' for one summer. ...There was a house at the middle of the camp itself where the camp director lived. Is it still there??... |
Lake Waramaug State Park
 | 19 miles away we stayed one night. there is a camp store and concession. lake for swimming and fishing. you can rent a canoe but it was 50 a day.sites are clean but not very private. bathrooms with showers were clean. Very family oriented kids bikes ect. quiet rule was respected by all young and old. we had a wonderful time. small town not far for pizza if needed... |
