Mooneys Woods; get covered with water paddling on Farmington River. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Tunxis Trail is pleasant fun, and during your trip here you'll meet some people from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford
for sure. This lake is so wonderful. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Hartford Reservoir Number 2. Swamps don’t sound that perfect but Hart Meadow in the vicinity of Hartford Reservoir Number
2 is quite perfect, and Hartford Reservoir Number 2 is right by the Mattabesset Trail. Powder Ridge has fine slopes and a friendly staff, and Talcott Mountain State Park is a magnificent spot. Stay the night at Camp Eagle Feather,
and Avon Old Farms is a wonderful location to get some rest. Hartford Reservoir Number 2 is a relatively wet place commonly with a good deal of rain; the wettest month of the year is generally May, that's the one that rains the most

Metacomet Trail
 | I finally located the trail entrance about 20 feet past a dirt road gate on the right that I had been using to get to the ridge line. Thanks for the help!...Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture. The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road. That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain. Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park. The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods. The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection. Thanks.... |
