Hiking is a popular thing to do around Hancock Pond; Mattatuck Trail is a brilliant local trail, and if you       come at the right time of year, Bantam River offers some great whitewater. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Hancock Pond. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Hancock Pond. Black Rock State Park is a magnificent site to stretch your legs a bit; after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express WATERBURY is a nice location                  to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. The scenery at Hancock Brook Dam near Hancock Pond is delightful, and you get a perfect view of Bucks Hill from here. Lots of folks from New Haven-Milford come to Hancock Pond, and there's brilliant hiking along the Naugatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Getting to Chase Brook from Hancock Pond is painless, and a great close by hotel is Courtyard Waterbury Downtown. All the outdoors amusing things right next door to Hancock Pond will keep you coming back persistently. Everybody close by loves skiing at Woodbury; get yourself into a kayak and hit Farmington River - Collinsville. This lake is so wonderful. A swamp like Buck Meadow near Hancock Pond has lots of interesting things to see, and don't leave Hancock Pond without first going for a hike along the Mattatuck Trail. A lake nearby is Lake Wequapauset, and a golf course close by is Pequabuck Golf Club of Bristol.
