So much enjoyable stuff to do at Gritman Pond, so little time. A brilliant nearby hotel is Sharon Motor Lodge, and going for a hike along the Mattatuck Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. In the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Housatonic River; a       wooded neighborhood nearby is Wyantenock State Forest. This lake is so wonderful. You'll come across a delightful lake called Eel Pond near Gritman Pond, and hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is great fun. Just can't get enough of Gritman Pond. Whitewater paddling is good on Shepaug River, and Kent Falls State Park is a glorious place to stretch your legs a bit. On a pleasant day you can have a look at Perkins Swamp, a swamp next to Gritman                  Pond; Housatonic Meadows State Park is a magnificent campground nearby. There are plenty of people from Torrington here at Gritman Pond; if you came for an overnight stay Lake Waramaug State Park is a pleasant location to camp.
