     If you need a place to stay Red Carpet Inn & Suites New Milford is a good choice, and there are plenty of people from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at Great Mountain Pond; most of the rain falls during June while January is generally the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is splendid on East Aspetuck River, and one of the best things about this location is its proximity to Pine  
   Ledge. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Great Mountain Pond without first checking out Kelly Slide.
Skiing at Thunder Ridge is one of those things you just ought to do, and Squantz Pond State Park is both good and gorgeous. Summertime highs at Great Mountain Pond commonly tend to be in the 80's. Lakes are such serene places, why not explore Green Pond in close proximity to Great Mountain Pond, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Great Mountain Pond; Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a fine local trail. From Great Mountain Pond you acquire a pleasant sight of Candlewood Mountain. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Great Mountain Pond has to offer, you can camp at Kettletown State Park. Be careful coming to Great Mountain Pond, you might not ever want to return back home again. Why not stop by a swamp like Quipy Swamp while you're here at Great Mountain Pond, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Candlewood Valley Country Club is nearby.
