This is a nice little lake for fishing. Use minnows and you'll catch a lot of pickerel and bass. Worms bring in copious amounts of bluegill. It's a C/R lake....

Salmon River
11 miles away
THe fishermen aren't nice here, especially in the Fly fishing area, we caught a lot of heck from them last year. MAde the trip no fun, I won't return. Try the Farmington instead....it's just bigger withmore room for everyone....You may wish to add the following link from the Salmon River page:http://www.ctxguide.com/ctxguide_117.htm...

Andover Lake

Great bass fishing. Clear water and no motors allowed. I remember skin diving in the 70's when I was around 10 and being able to see twenty thirty feet....

Bass Pond
17 miles away
The Springfield Paddle Club is a private swimming club with a beach on Bass Club.  The entrance is from South Branch Parkway.  We have a lovely beach and a floating dock about 20 yards from shore.  Consider joining us for wonderful swimming all summer long....

Powder Ridge
18 miles away
Powder Ridge is closed for season due to pending sale....

Metacomet Trail
19 miles away
I finally located the trail entrance about 20 feet past a dirt road gate on the right that I had been using to get to the ridge line.  Thanks for the help!...Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture.  The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road.  That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain.  Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park.  The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods.  The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection.  Thanks....

Mount Southington
29 miles away
Night and day we are the one. Mt. Southington is Connecticut's convenient location for both skiing and snowboarding for all ages and for all ability-levels. Novice trails that gently glide down sloping hillsides as well as down-hill runs that challenge and excite are just some features of this popular ski area....
