    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Connecticut you can check out Gaines Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Wilderness Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious nearby hotel is Rodeway Inn Willington, and Bissonnette Pond Dam is an exciting thing to check out. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Gaines Pond. Lakes? Sure, Drobney Pond is nearby, and whitewater paddling is glorious on Quaboag River.
Much rain falls
 
   at Gaines Pond; most of the rain falls throughout May, and the driest month is February. Mansfield Hollow State Park is worth checking out if you're at Gaines Pond; if you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Natchaug River. The peak of Holt Mountain can be distinguished from Gaines Pond, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Willimantic here.
Nathan Hale Inn And Conference Center is a fine spot to get some
 
               rest, and Moosemeadow Camping Resort is a fine campground nearby. High temperatures at Gaines Pond during the summer months are in the 80's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Gaines Pond. Curtis Brook is close to Gaines Pond and is always a delight to have a look at, and Taylor Pond is a brilliant lake nearby.
