National Computer Camps is a glorious campground nearby; there are plenty of people from New Haven-Milford here at Foxon Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Graniss Pond Dam is worth a visit since you're here, and a round of golf at nearby Twin Lakes Golf Course is a nice way to kill some time. All the water falling down from the sky makes Foxon Pond a wet place; during May this area sees the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. Days Inn -New

| | Haven is a nice site to get some rest, and if you get bored of Foxon Pond you could also stop by close by Lidyhites Pond. Now, you may believe that's plenty but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Foxon Pond. If the weather is delightful here at Foxon Pond, you can go for a hike along the West Woods Trail; a trip here wouldn’t be complete without a trip to close by Wharton Brook State Park. and a great beach nearby is Front Beach. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Foxon Pond. During the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the
30's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Foxon Pond drop into the 10's. Hit the slopes at Powder Ridge around here; the Regicides Trail is a tremendous hiking trail nearby. Not sufficient hours
in a day to enjoy this place. Rose Swamp is an exciting swamp in the vicinity of Foxon Pond, and one of the dominant highlights of the surroundings of Foxon Pond is Lidyhites Hill. A lake nearby is Hartens Pond, and dry warm beds
await you at Holiday Inn Express BRANFORD-NEW HAVEN. This lake is so wonderful. A fine place for whitewater paddling right next door to Foxon Pond is Hammonasset River. Burrs Brook is a great spot to explore, and you can stay
the night at Hammonasset Beach State Park. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Foxon Pond you can take a hike along the Quinnipiac Trail, and a day at Short Beach is time well spent.

Maltby Lake

Maltby Lakes are made up of three lakes located off of Route 34 in West Haven. The permit also gives you access to Lake Saltonstall and Lake Chamberlain for fishing.  | 10 miles away Access only with Regional Water Authority permit (25$/year). Off Rt. 69, turn down Morris Road at Bethany/Woodbridge border. Left at stopsign onto dirt road, second gated entrance on right. Fishing, hiking/running, horseback riding. Good sized lake for the area, however boating is strictly forbidden. Gorgeous, peaceful surroundings (no houses), and wildlife abounds. The deer often tolerate people closeby. The fishing can be good for the experienced bass fisherman willing to hike around to the various small, scattered areas where casting is possible. These spots are often choked with brush so accurate casting, texas-rigged soft plastic baits, and at least 8lb test line are a must. I've caught a few 4-5lb bass and some good sized pickerel.... |
