    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Dyke Pond. Talcott Dam is not far at all from Dyke Pond, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Farmington River - Collinsville. Playing golf is lots of fun at Buena Vista Golf Course, and don't miss out on a delightful swamp; Hart Meadow is right here at Dyke Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Mattabesset Trail is nice fun. Lakes? Sure, Hartford Reservoir Number  
   3 is around here.
Dyke Pond is a rather wet place commonly with lots of rain; May is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest. Yeah, come here to Dyke Pond for a tremendous time. Very pretty scenery and delightful skiing is what you get at Powder Ridge, and a tremendous nearby hotel is Avon Old Farms. Don't leave Dyke Pond without visiting Talcott Mountain State Park, and get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Farmington
 
               River.
This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Dyke Pond, you'll stumble on Hartford Reservoir Number 2 which is a stunning lake; there are plenty of folks from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford here at Dyke Pond. For the duration of the warm months at Dyke Pond temperatures are typically in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Dyke Pond. This lake is so wonderful.
Have a fine hiking adventure along the Tunxis Trail, and a good view of pretty Burnt Hill is available. A pleasant site to camp here at Dyke Pond is Golden Acres Campground; do take a hike on the Metacomet Trail. So many amusing things to do here at Dyke Pond, too delightful to be true. If you need a location to stay Homewood Suites Farmington is a delightful choice, and hey, Gotta ski right? Mount Southington is a perfect site to do that.
Camping at Camp Eagle Feather is always a good experience, and there's a forest here called Newton Brainard Forest.

Metacomet Trail
Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture.  The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road.  That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain.  Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park.  The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods.  The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection.  Thanks....
