Very good water scenery is available at Bigelow Pond Dam in the vicinity of Dolphin Pond, and there is a brilliant hiking trail close by called the Mattatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Mohawk Mountain is near Dolphin Pond, and if you like swamps you're in luck, Great Bear Swamp is right close by. Lone Oak Camp Sites is a good local campground, and going for a hike on the Elbow Trail is always a magnificent adventure. The skiing at Ski Butternut is tremendous, and dry warm beds await you at Blackberry River Inn. day at Dolphin Pond you can take a hike along the Wild Cat Trail. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Dolphin Pond. All through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets
highs in the 30's with temperatures at Dolphin Pond dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. While you're here at Dolphin Pond, you could also pop by pretty Ghilds Pond, and Dennis Hill State Park is a wonderful place to stretch
your legs a bit. If you go for the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Dolphin Pond. You'll stumble on a stunning lake called Bigelow Pond near Dolphin Pond; float down the rapids of Housatonic River in a kayak. Valley In The
Pines Campground is a splendid campground nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Sandy Brook River offers some great whitewater. Dolphin Pond is a relatively wet place frequently with a great deal of precipitation; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February.
