The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Powder Ridge, and if you come at the right time of year, Salmon River offers some great whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. Wolf's Den Family Campground is a magnificent campground nearby, and if you've had enough of Deep Hollow Reservoir, Upper       Pond is nearby. Cedar Swamp is a swamp near Deep Hollow Reservoir. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Hammonasset River, and you can have a good hiking adventure along the Mattabesset Trail. Stay the night at Devil's Hopyard State Park, and if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the West Woods Trail. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. A Victorian Village Inn is a great site to get some rest; don't leave Deep Hollow Reservoir                  without first checking out Rattlesnake Ledges.
