A tremendous beach close to Crystal Lake is Chalker Beach, and if you come at the right time of year, Salmon River offers some fine whitewater. Crystal Lake is a pleasant site to visit for more than one day, Devil's Hopyard State Park is a pleasant site to camp nearby, and Birch Millpond Dam is an attention-grabbing thing to check out. | | stop at Back River; if you're a golfer then a tremendous close by course is Hillside Links Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. There are other places here than Crystal Lake, for example Lake Rockview, and Wolf's Den Family Campground is a nice local campground. Hill is scenic. All through the summer here at Crystal Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in
the 30's with temperatures at Crystal Lake dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Crystal Lake is a reasonably wet place usually with a great deal of precipitation; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest
of the months is February. Chapman Point is in the neighborhood and always delightful to pop by, and a swamp like Cedar Swamp close to Crystal Lake has lots of out of the ordinary things to see. This lake is so wonderful. Selden Neck
State Park is a fine spot to stop by on a gorgeous day, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Old Saybrook. Don't leave Crystal Lake without first paying a visit to Cold Spring, and if you need a place to stay Days Inn Old Saybrook
is a fine choice. Not far from Crystal Lake, you'll come across Pequot Swamp Pond which is a stunning lake; get yourself into a kayak and hit Hammonasset River.

 | 14 miles away THe fishermen aren't nice here, especially in the Fly fishing area, we caught a lot of heck from them last year. MAde the trip no fun, I won't return.
