    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Crystal Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the wonderful whitewater of Hammonasset River, and dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Old Saybrook. So many amusing things to do at Crystal Lake, so little time. Birch Millpond Dam is not far at all from Crystal Lake, and if you're here you have to explore Chapman Point. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Devil's Hopyard State Park while  
   you're here at Crystal Lake, and a short tour to Cold Spring is always worthwhile.
A delightful place to camp here at Crystal Lake is Wolf's Den Family Campground; you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Chalker Beach. Just can't get enough of Crystal Lake. Getting to Back River from Crystal Lake is simple, and obviously, this is a good area for people who like lakes, Lake Rockview is a lake nearby. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Crystal Lake.
 
               When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Crystal Lake temperatures sink to the 10's.
If you like swamps, you're in luck, Cedar Swamp is right close by, and if you're looking for a beach close by we recommend Chapman Strand. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Johnson Pond; if you need a spot to stay Old Saybrook - Days Inn is a nice choice. Beacon Hill is clearly visible from Crystal Lake, and since you're here you can play some golf at Hillside Links Golf Course.
You can run the rapids of Salmon River near Crystal Lake, and Selden Neck State Park is worth taking a look at. All the water falling down from the sky makes Crystal Lake a wet site; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain; February is when it's the driest.
