Very nice water scenery is available at Laurel Reservoir Dam close to Collins Pond, and Collins Pond is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Soundview Sports is a splendid local campground. Here at Collins Pond you can see Wren Knolls, and you're sure to stumble upon some nice folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here. A lake nearby is Laurel Reservoir, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Pound Ridge Golf Club is in the

| | vicinity. A spree to Seth Low Pierrepont State Park Reserve when you're here at Collins Pond is a pleasant idea, and if you need a site to stay Stamford Plaza Hotel and CC is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. Mill River is in close proximity to Collins Pond and is always a bliss to explore. there's loads more to do next to Collins Pond. Collins Pond is not the only site close by, Lockwood Pond is a close by lake, and glide down the rapids of Norwalk River in a kayak. All the water falling down from the sky makes Collins
Pond a wet location; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and January is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Roger Sherman Inn (Le) is a fine location to spend a night
or two, and a day on the slopes of Thunder Ridge is just what you need. During the summer months at Collins Pond temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the
60's. Highs during the wintertime are commonly in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Collins Pond temperatures dip to the 10's.

 | 18 miles away ....back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went t... |
