Powder Ridge has glorious slopes and a friendly staff. Lakes? Sure, West Lake is in close proximity. Hit the slopes at Mount Southington in close proximity, and Americas Best Value Inn-Branford is a perfect location to get some rest. Summer at Clear Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Clear Lake are

| | in the 10's. There are some tremendous whitewater spots on Hammonasset River; don't leave Clear Lake without first going for a hike along the Mattabesset Trail. After a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn Branford is a perfect place to spend a night or two, and a good beach nearby is Hotchkiss Cove Beach. Clear Lake is a delightful spot to visit for more than one day, Riverdale Camp Sites is a delightful spot to camp nearby, and beaches are nice and Hotchkiss | |

Grove Beach is no exception. This lake is so wonderful. Hammonasset Beach State Park is a magnificent local campground, and you can go for a hike on the West Woods Trail. At Clear Lake you can make out Long Hill; this is a popular
spot for folks from New Haven-Milford. This is no location for people who don’t like to have fun. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Twin Lakes Golf Course is in close proximity, and you positively ought to check
out Wharton Brook State Park if you're here. This lake is so wonderful. That right there is a lot already, but it carries on; Clear Lake has it all. Lake Gaillard Dam is a striking spot near Clear Lake, and there's pleasant hiking
along the Washington Trail. A great deal of rain falls at Clear Lake; most of the rain falls during May while February is ordinarily the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Take a little trip to Munger Brook while you're here at Clear Lake, and not far from Clear Lake you'll find Little West Pond which is a charming lake.

Maltby Lake

Maltby Lakes are made up of three lakes located off of Route 34 in West Haven. The permit also gives you access to Lake Saltonstall and Lake Chamberlain for fishing. Lake Chamberlain
 | 17 miles away Access only with Regional Water Authority permit (25$/year). Off Rt. 69, turn down Morris Road at Bethany/Woodbridge border. Left at stopsign onto dirt road, second gated entrance on right. Fishing, hiking/running, horseback riding. Good sized lake for the area, however boating is strictly forbidden. Gorgeous, peaceful surroundings (no houses), and wildlife abounds. The deer often tolerate people closeby. The fishing can be good for the experienced bass fisherman willing to hike around to the various small, scattered areas where casting is possible. These spots are often choked with brush so accurate casting, texas-rigged soft plastic baits, and at least 8lb test line are a must. I've caught a few 4-5lb bass and some good sized pickerel.... |
