     Looking for something close to Clay Pond? Straw Pond is nearby; a fine nearby hotel is Hampton Inn Waterbury. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Clay Pond you can see Mount Fair, and going to Black Rock State Park is a great thing to do. Sperry Pond Dam is a site that is close to Clay Pond. All through the warm months, highs frequently are in the 70's at Clay Pond; the overnight is slightly chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. Daytime highs during the  
   wintertime are in the 20's, and night lows at Clay Pond all through the winter usually fall into the 10's.
Camping at Black Rock State Park is always a glorious experience, and going for a hike on the Mattatuck Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Clay Pond is a wet place that gets much rain; the wettest month of the year is typically August, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February. Clay Pond really is in the middle
 
               of a beautiful outdoors paradise. Really magnificent skiing awaits you at Mount Southington; there is a perfect hiking trail close by called the Naugatuck Trail.
Nearby lakes? Sure, Tracys Pond is in the vicinity of Clay Pond; enjoy a round of golf at Golf Club at Oxford. What a spot this is for outdoors people. Clay Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Branchbrook Campground is a great local campground, and skiing at Woodbury is one of those things you just must do. Courtyard Waterbury Downtown is a nice site to get some rest, and a swamp like Tamarack Swamp in the vicinity of Clay Pond has lots of attention-grabbing things to see.
This lake is so wonderful. Goat Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth stopping at, and whitewater paddling is brilliant on Bantam River. During your journey to Clay Pond you'll meet some folks from New Haven-Milford for sure; paddling on Shepaug River is so much fun.
