For you golfers we recommend close by Canaan Country Club; Sharon Motor Lodge is a great site to get some rest. A short journey to Great Falls is always worthwhile, and Dean Ravine is in close proximity, and is a wonderful site. Camping at Lone Oak Camp Sites is always a splendid experience, and you can run       the rapids of Housatonic River. This place, Childs Pond, it truly has so much outdoors exciting stuff. Housatonic Meadows State Park is a tremendous place to stop by on a pretty day, and why not head up to Mohawk Mountain and strap some skis to your feet. This lake is so wonderful. Childs Pond is not far at all from Torrington, and The Cove is not far at all. Why not pop by Camp Freedman Pond Dam if you're here, and what would a site like Childs Pond                  be without interesting nearby marks like Lookout Point. Summertime highs at Childs Pond generally tend to be in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Childs Pond temperatures drop to the 0's. Childs Pond is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here while February is regularly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Childs Pond; Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a great local trail, and the snow is great at Ski Butternut.
