A tremendous nearby hotel is Americas Best Value Inn-Branford; do take a hike on the Mattabesset Trail. Why not visit nearby Munger Brook if you're here at Cedar Pond; as expected, everybody loves Wharton Brook State Park. This lake is so wonderful. There are plenty of folks from New Haven-Milford here at Cedar Pond, and since you're here and you like golf, you can stop by Twin Lakes Golf Course. Why not camp at Riverdale Camp Sites if you're here at Cedar Pond;

Have a good hiking adventure along the Washington Trail, and a great place to camp here at Cedar Pond is Hammonasset Beach State Park. paddling on Hammonasset River. This lake is so wonderful. Linsley Pond is a wonderful lake close to Cedar Pond; if you need a place to stay Branford-Days Inn is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Cedar Pond you get some fine water scenery at Lake Gaillard Dam; the view of gorgeous Notch Hill is magnificent.

Maltby Lake
 | 13 miles away Call the Regional Water Authority and ask for Anita in Recreation, 203-624-6671. She'll set you up with a permit. Or you can go online, www.rwater.com. Maltby Lakes are made up of three lakes located off of Route 34 in West Haven. The permit also gives you access to Lake Saltonstall and Lake Chamberlain for fishing.  | 14 miles away Access only with Regional Water Authority permit (25$/year). Off Rt. 69, turn down Morris Road at Bethany/Woodbridge border. Left at stopsign onto dirt road, second gated entrance on right. Fishing, hiking/running, horseback riding. Good sized lake for the area, however boating is strictly forbidden. Gorgeous, peaceful surroundings (no houses), and wildlife abounds. The deer often tolerate people closeby. The fishing can be good for the experienced bass fisherman willing to hike around to the various small, scattered areas where casting is possible. These spots are often choked with brush so accurate casting, texas-rigged soft plastic baits, and at least 8lb test line are a must. I've caught a few 4-5lb bass and some good sized pickerel.... |
