The West Woods Trail offers hiking at its best; swamps are attention-grabbing sites and Cedar Swamp right next door to Cedar Lake is no exception. For the period of the summer months highs here at Cedar Lake get into the 80's, and the nighttime is quite cooler of course, generally in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's while Cedar Lake overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. Haddam Meadows State Park is a wonderful place;

| | after a long day outdoors A Victorian Village Inn is a nice place to spend a night or two. A good view of striking Turkey Hill is available from Cedar Lake, and what would winter be without some skiing at Powder Ridge. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Salmon River close to Cedar Lake, and of course, this is a great vicinity for folks who like lakes, Lampes Pond is a lake in close proximity. And that's not all you can do here at Cedar Lake. | |

Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cedar Lake; Washington Trail is a nice local trail; a golf course nearby is Hillside Links Golf Course. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool things the area near Cedar Lake
has to offer. At Deep Hollow Reservoir Dam in close proximity to Cedar Lake there are some exciting things to see. There's so much to do here at Cedar Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Wolf's Den Family Campground is a
great location for that. This lake is so wonderful. Take a side trip to Burr Brook, and there's good hiking along the Mattabesset Trail. Cedar Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally
May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is February. If you came to camp River Road Campground is a pleasant site to do that, and if you need a place to stay Waters Edge Resort and Spa is a wonderful
choice. There's whitewater on Hammonasset River for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Griswold Pond.

 | 10 miles away THe fishermen aren't nice here, especially in the Fly fishing area, we caught a lot of heck from them last year. MAde the trip no fun, I won't return.
