     There are perfect places to discover along the Mattabesset Trail, and since you're here, you could also stop by stunning Beattie Pond. You simply should love Bishops Pond. Camping at Hammonasset Beach State Park is always a fine experience, and Town Millpond is a nearby lake that you could stop at. Yep, outdoors entertaining things to do are truly plentiful here at Bishops Pond. If you need a place to stay Tower Inn and Suites is a magnificent choice, and  
   the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Powder Ridge. This lake is so wonderful. Circle Beach is close to Bishops Pond if you're in a beach type of mood, and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Guilford.
A good location to camp here at Bishops Pond is Riverdale Camp Sites, and why not a little side journey to Spinning Mill Brook. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Hammonasset River, and going for a hike on the West Woods Trail is always
 
               a tremendous adventure. Bishops Pond is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; through April this area sees the most rain while February is mostly the driest month.
If you want to hit the beach, Jacobs Public Beach is in the neighborhood; Guilford Lakes Golf Course is a golf course close by. Throughout the summertime highs here at Bishops Pond reach the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Bishops Pond sink into the 10's. Go for a hike on the Washington Trail; if the weather is pretty, you obtain a fine view of Hungry Hill from Bishops Pond.
This lake is so wonderful. If you like swamps, you're in luck, The Cove is right nearby, and a visit to Chatfield Hollow State Park is a pleasant idea. This lake is so wonderful. People from New Haven-Milford love to come to Bishops Pond, and Clark Point is in the neighborhood and always glorious to visit.

Call the Regional Water Authority and ask for Anita in Recreation, 203-624-6671.  She'll set you up with a permit. Or you can go online, www.rwater.com.  Maltby Lakes are made up of three lakes located off of Route 34 in West Haven.  The permit also gives you access to Lake Saltonstall and Lake Chamberlain for fishing.  There is much more than fishing but you can start off there. Good Luck!...I am looking for directions, so I can go fishing my girl says it is a beautiful spot....
