Patterson Brook is a nice place to have a look at. There's so much to do here at Big Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Mountain Workshop is a fine place for that. At Big Lake during the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Big Lake are in the 10's. Big Lake is a wet place that gets a good deal of rainfall; May
is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Get drenched paddling on East Aspetuck River; swamps like Lyons Swamp are fun to go to.
Paddling on Norwalk River is so much fun, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Woodbury. This lake is so wonderful. On a wonderful day you acquire a view of Eden Hill from Big Lake; near Big Lake you find a golf course called Twin Links at Fairchild Wheeler Golf

Course. If you need a place to stay Days Inn Bethel - Danbury is a magnificent choice, and if you came to camp Kettletown State Park is a magnificent location to do that.
A lovely lake like Guskie Pond next to Big Lake is a glorious site to pop by. That right there is a heap already, but it continues; Big Lake has it all. Stony Hill Inn is a great place to get some rest, and Mother Superior Lake is a good lake nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Big Lake you'll most likely meet some folks from Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, and Collis P. Huntington State Park is worth a visit.

Ella Fohs Camp Pond
18 miles away
I attended Ella Fohs as a camper and a counselor.  The time was early 1950s - 1955...I was at the camp from 1963-1969. It shaped my childhood. My mother was there when she was a kid too. I found her name carved into one of the bunks on the rafters: Sydell Freiman 1949! Shame it's not used anymore for innercity poor kids, like we were. Ellen Knebel...I'm sad to hear that the camp itself is not there any more. I worked there in 69-73...I began working on ''the senior side'' and we livrf in ''the mansion'' for one summer. ...There was a house at the middle of the camp itself where the camp director lived. Is it still there??...
