The beauty of Bethels Pond attracts many people from all around. If you like swamps, you're in luck, East Swamp is right nearby, and there are other places here than Bethels Pond, for example Putnam Park Pond. If you're here at Bethels Pond, you could stop at Dibbles Brook; get soaked paddling on East Aspetuck River. This lake is so wonderful. lows sink down to the 50's. Highs through the winter are regularly in the 30's; during the dark hours in the winter at Bethels Pond temperatures dip to the 10's. Paddling on Norwalk River is so much fun; after a long day outdoors Days Inn Bethel - Danbury is a good site to spend a night or two.

I found her name carved into one of the bunks on the rafters: Sydell Freiman 1949! Shame it's not used anymore for innercity poor kids, like we were. Ellen Knebel...I'm sad to hear that the camp itself is not there any more. I worked there in 69-73...I began working on ''the senior side'' and we livrf in ''the mansion'' for one summer. ...There was a house at the middle of the camp itself where the camp director lived. Lake Waramaug State Park
 | 17 miles away we stayed one night. there is a camp store and concession. lake for swimming and fishing. you can rent a canoe but it was 50 a day.sites are clean but not very private. bathrooms with showers were clean. Very family oriented kids bikes ect. quiet rule was respected by all young and old. we had a wonderful time. small town not far for pizza if needed... |
