Mount Southington is a good place to do that, and you can stay the night at Black Rock State Park. During the warmest time of the year at Baummer Pond temperatures are regularly in the 80's while night lows are frequently in the 50's. Hop Brook Dam is a place that is close to Baummer Pond, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Naugatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Baummer Pond you can see City Hill; on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Mattatuck Trail. Baummer Pond commonly gets a great deal of rainfall; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. Whitewater paddling is fine on Farmington River - Collinsville. You definitely must adore Baummer Pond.
