Burr Smith Pond is a lake in the vicinity, and if you need a location to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites PLAINFIELD is a magnificent choice. There are some good whitewater spots on Quinebaug River, and Woodchuck Hill is pretty and can be seen from here. During the warm months here at Bates Pond, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into       the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Bates Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Hopeville Pond State Park is a pretty site any time of year, and why not a little side trip to Bates Brook. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! Bates Pond is peerless!. This lake is so wonderful. All our national parks are delightful sites to explore, and Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley                  National Heritage Corridor is no exception, and a brilliant place to camp here at Bates Pond is Deer Haven Campground LLC. And if you're still looking for more outdoors cool things just keep reading. Don't leave Bates Pond without first going for a hike along the Narragansett Trail, and nice water scenery is available at Lisbon Pond Dam next to Bates Pond.
