Throughout the warmest time of the year, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Bates Pond. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and overnight lows during the winter for Bates Pond tend to be in the 10's. Stoddard Hill State Park       is a great site to stretch your legs a bit. There's so much to do here at Bates Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Deer Haven Campground LLC is a great spot for that. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Mohegan Sun is a pleasant spot to spend a night or two; golf can be played at River Ridge Golf Course. If only every spot had this much outdoors amusing stuff, what a great globe it would be. Bates Pond is not the only location                  nearby, Lisbon Ice Pond is a nearby lake; you can go for a hike on the Narragansett Trail. Don't forget to take a look at Sachem Point since you're here at Bates Pond, and if you've had enough of Bates Pond, Lower Blissville Pond is nearby. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do near Bates Pond. Glide down the rapids of Quinebaug River in a kayak. The vista of Campbell Hill from Bates Pond is delightful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Bates Pond has to offer, you can camp at Hidden Acres Family Campground. The Spa at Norwich Inn is a good place to get some rest; a short spree to Quinebaug Falls is always worthwhile. This lake is so wonderful. People from Norwich-New London love to come to Bates Pond, and paddling on Natchaug River is so much fun.
