This lake is so wonderful. On a perfect day at Bates Pond you can take a hike along the Mattatuck Trail. There's so much to do here at Bates Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Looking Glass
 
               Hill Campgrounds is a good place for that. While you're here at Bates Pond you can take a hike along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and don't forget to go to Cheeree Point since you're here.

Not far from Bates Pond, you'll find Lake Waramaug which is a stunning lake, and the summit of Above All can be spotted from Bates Pond. Don't miss out on a magnificent swamp; Meeker Swamp is right here at Bates Pond, and Mohawk Mountain has delightful slopes and a friendly staff. The annual precipitation here at Bates Pond is about average; June is the wettest month with most rain; January is the month with the least moisture.
This lake is so wonderful. Bantam River is a magnificent whitewater spot in the vicinity of Bates Pond, and since you're here, you could visit Lake Waramaug Brook. Going to Lake Waramaug State Park next to Bates Pond is a wonderful thing to do. Lakes? Sure, Quist Pond is around here. This lake is so wonderful. A delightful spot for whitewater paddling next to Bates Pond is Shepaug River; if you fancy a little side journey, try Marks Hollow.
Heritage Inn is a perfect place to get some rest, and you can hit the slopes at Woodbury in the neighborhood.
