If you like lakes and you're in this part of Connecticut you can check out Basset Pond. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff close to Basset Pond. After a long day outdoors Best Value Inn - Brooklyn/Danielson is a splendid place to spend a night or two; lots of folks from Willimantic come here. This lake is so wonderful. Near Basset Pond you locate a golf course called Brooklyn Golf Course, and on a great day you can take a hike along the Border Trail.

Not far from Basset Pond you can enjoy the trees of Lester B Williams Memorial Forest, and at Paradise Lake Dam next to Basset Pond there are some interesting things to see. rest, and in case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Natchaug River. If time allows, Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor is a national park worth taking a look
at, and a brilliant site to camp here at Basset Pond is Mashamuquet Brook Campground. A visit to Mashamoquet Brook State Park when you're here at Basset Pond is never a bad idea, and going for a hike on the Munyan Trail is always
a brilliant adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Quinebaug River is a great whitewater spot close to Basset Pond; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Bush Hill Brook. This is a good area for people who like lakes. Paradise
Lake is a lake close at hand, and why not camp at Wolf Den Campground while you're here at Basset Pond. If the weather is beautiful, you acquire a wonderful sight of Blackwell Hill from Basset Pond, and there is a magnificent hiking trail nearby called the Walkabout Trail.
