Here at Bacon Pond there are plenty of folks from       Torrington; on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Mattatuck Trail. The Naugatuck Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close to Bacon Pond, and if you came for an overnight stay Branchbrook Campground is a glorious location to camp. Bacon Pond gets a good deal of water; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is usually the driest month. Ricker Pond is a pleasant lake close to Bacon Pond, and there is a perfect hiking                  trail close by called the Mattatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Cat Swamp Pond Dam is charming and it's close to Bacon Pond. Lakes? Sure, Cat Swamp Pond is around here. If you need a spot to stay Heritage Hotel is a great choice, and a splendid sight of beautiful Blackmans Hill is available. If you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Bantam River, and an afternoon playing golf at Pomperaug Golf Club is always a joy.
