The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Woodbury; Big Cove is close at hand and always great to take a look at. But wait, there's more to do in close proximity to Bacon Pond. Whitewater paddling is good on Shepaug River, and why not stop by close by Clark Brook since you're here at Bacon Pond. This lake is so wonderful. The snow is great at Mohawk Mountain. The Naugatuck Trail is a wonderful hiking trail close to Bacon Pond, and if you came for an overnight stay Branchbrook Campground is a glorious location to camp. Bacon Pond gets a good deal of water; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is usually the driest month. trail close by called the Mattatuck Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Cat Swamp Pond Dam is charming and it's close to Bacon Pond. Lakes? Sure, Cat Swamp Pond is around here. If you need a spot to stay Heritage Hotel is a great
choice, and a splendid sight of beautiful Blackmans Hill is available. If you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Bantam River, and an afternoon playing golf at Pomperaug Golf Club is always a joy.
For the period of the warm months, highs commonly are in the 80's at Bacon Pond. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows
