You can take a little visit to Angus Park Pond Dam if you're here at Angus Park Pond, and nearby you find the Washington Trail which is a good hiking trail. rain is May, and the driest month of the year is February. Red Spring is a scenic spot to check out while you're at Angus Park Pond, and going for a hike on the Mattabesset Trail is always a good adventure. This lake is so wonderful.
Camping at Markham Meadows Campgrounds is always a brilliant experience; there is a tremendous hiking trail close by called the Mattabesset Trail. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. After a long day outdoors
Manchester Inn is a nice place to spend a night or two; if the weather is wonderful, you get a brilliant panorama of Minnechaug Mountain from Angus Park Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Near Angus Park Pond you locate a golf course
called Minnechaug Golf Course, and paddling on Roaring Brook River is so much fun. You're sure to encounter some good people from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford here, and swamps can be such out of the ordinary places, visit
Nipsic Bog if you're here at Angus Park Pond. That right there is a heap already, but it continues; Angus Park Pond has it all. Angus Park Pond is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Nelson's Family Campground is a fine local campground, and skiing at Powder Ridge is one of those things you just ought to do.

Metacomet Trail
 | 18 miles away I finally located the trail entrance about 20 feet past a dirt road gate on the right that I had been using to get to the ridge line. Thanks for the help!...Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture. The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road. That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain. Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park. The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods. The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection. Thanks.... |
