At Adder Reservoir you can catch a sight of Camels Hump; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Mount Higby Reservoir. All the water falling down from the sky makes Adder Reservoir a wet spot; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is February. Adder Reservoir Dam is not far at all from Adder Reservoir, and an afternoon playing golf at Miner Hills Golf Course & Driving Range
is always a pleasure. The Mattabesset Trail offers hiking at its best. Lakes? Sure, Highland Pond is nearby.
Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here at Adder Reservoir. Take a hike on the Mattabesset Trail, and a pleasant location for whitewater paddling is Roaring Brook River. For the period of the long summer days at Adder Reservoir highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily

in the 50's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are usually in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Adder Reservoir. You'll meet a lot of people from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford here, and Americas Best Value Inn is a great place to get some rest.
This lake is so wonderful. Everybody nearby loves skiing at Powder Ridge. If you came for an overnight stay Camp Eagle Feather is a magnificent site to camp; nearby Preston Notch is a brilliant location to go. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. The slopes of Mount Southington are so inviting noone can resist, and after a long day outdoors Residence Inn Meriden is a nice spot to spend a night or two.
Ward Spring is a good local attraction, and if you're looking for some flowing water? Try East Bradley Brook. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody loves Wadsworth Falls State Park, and in case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Hammonasset River. This lake is so wonderful. Little City Campground is a delightful local campground, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Washington Trail.

Metacomet Trail
12 miles away
I finally located the trail entrance about 20 feet past a dirt road gate on the right that I had been using to get to the ridge line.  Thanks for the help!...Gene, The trailhead at 315 and 189 is actually on Mountain Road which comes off the Rd right at the juncture.  The telphone poles are blazed and the trail breaks into the woods about halfway up on the right side of the road.  That is a nice section of trail although we hiked it in the rain.  Happy Trails....I am having difficulty locating the trail head in East Granby at rtes. 315 and 189 that leads to south toward Penwood State Park.  The trail maps say that the trail head is on Mountain Road, but there are no blue/yellow blazed trail markers on either of the two entry points into the woods.  The only indication of the trail is the sign post at the bottom of the road in the three way intersection.  Thanks....

Access only with Regional Water Authority permit (25$/year). Off Rt. 69, turn down Morris Road at Bethany/Woodbridge border. Left at stopsign onto dirt road, second gated entrance on right. Fishing, hiking/running, horseback riding.
Good sized lake for the area, however boating is strictly forbidden. Gorgeous, peaceful surroundings (no houses), and wildlife abounds. The deer often tolerate people closeby. The fishing can be good for the experienced bass fisherman willing to hike around to the various small, scattered areas where casting is possible. These spots are often choked with brush so accurate casting, texas-rigged soft plastic baits, and at least 8lb test line are a must. I've caught a few 4-5lb bass and some good sized pickerel....
