     There is a great hiking trail in the vicinity of Abbotts Pond called the Mattatuck Trail, and Hampton Inn Waterbury is a great place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Black Rock State Park, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Woodbury is rather near. Any time is a wonderful time at Abbotts Pond if you like the outdoors. Abbotts Pond is not the only place close by, Turtle Pond is a close by lake, and Mount Southington is a fine  
   local ski area. You don’t have to go far from Abbotts Pond to observe the water at Sperry Pond Dam, and if the weather is beautiful, you acquire a glorious view of Bedlam Hill from Abbotts Pond.
Buell Flats is a tremendous place to check out, and people from New Haven-Milford love to come here. A lake close by is Fenn Pond; some nearby water includes Goat Brook. This lake is so wonderful. Swamps don’t sound that good but Miry Swamp near Abbotts Pond is reasonably
 
               good, and places like Southford Falls State Park are magnificent to pop by.
Get drenched paddling on Bantam River, and the Naugatuck Trail is a tremendous hiking trail nearby. On a great day at Abbotts Pond you can take a hike along the Mattatuck Trail, and playing golf is lots of fun at Golf Club at Oxford. A lot of rainfall falls at Abbotts Pond; the wettest month of the year is regularly June, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February.
This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Shepaug River. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Abbotts Pond. Abbotts Pond is a magnificent spot to visit for more than one day, Branchbrook Campground is a magnificent spot to camp nearby, and dry warm beds await you at Crowne Plaza Hotel SOUTHBURY. Through the days of summer, highs usually are in the 70's at Abbotts Pond. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's with temperatures at Abbotts Pond dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
