Mashamoquet Brook State Park is a lovely site any time of year, and not far from Abbott Pond you'll find Kelly Ponds which is a beautiful lake. Be careful coming to Abbott Pond, you might not ever want to go home again. A journey to Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor is worthwhile, and the scenery at Abbott Dam is beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. On a great day at Abbott Pond       you can take a hike along the Border Trail, and if you need a place to stay The Inn at Woodstock Hill is a good choice. Abington Brook is a good local stream, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Willimantic here. The high level of rain makes Abbott Pond a pretty wet location; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. Abbott Pond is a perfect place to visit for more than one day, Mashamoquet                  Brook State Park is a perfect place to camp nearby, and a brilliant nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Killingly (Dayville), Ct. Throughout the warm months at Abbott Pond highs are typically in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Abbott Pond. This lake is so wonderful. On a lovely day you acquire a panorama of Allen Hill from Abbott Pond, and if you're a golfer then a magnificent close by course is Harrisville Golf Course. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Abbott Pond has to offer, you can camp at Wolf Den Campground, and Quinebaug River is a splendid whitewater spot nearby. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Natchaug River, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Taft Pond. If you want a magnificent time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Abbott Pond.
