This lake is incredible for fishing probably because it is little fished. Beetle Spins not so good for us but Rooster Tails and Yo-Zuri Pin's minnow 2'' Rainbow Trout colored did the trick. Four of us went here July '09. The hike was long but worth it. Accompanied by a late morning start, it rained off and on so we didn't get to fish as much as we wanted plus the altitude got to one of us pretty badly. We're lowlanders from the South. A couple of extra-strength Tylenol, he was up and around in an hour or so. Next time we'll camp at Upper Chipmunk and each eat our fill of Trout each day. Awesome adventure! Jeremy: It is a really good 4.9 mile hike, if you want to get a full day of fishing either wake up early and be at the trail head by five in the morning, or you can get a back country permit and stay over night.The fishing here is amazing.The average angler can catch his limit in a couple of hours.You will mostly see colorado cutthroat at an average of 12-14 inches.A wonderful place to fish, I plan on going a couple of times this summer.(Wont be good for fishing til about jun 15 on.    Enjoy! A perfect spot to camp here at Ypsilon Lake is Endovalley Campground, and if time allows, Rocky Mountain National Park is a national park worth checking out. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Front Range. Get wet paddling on Joe Wright Creek, and camping is available at Aspenglen Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Ypsilon Lake       without first going for a hike along the Lawn Lake Trail, and let's not forget Bennett Creek which is a stream that you may bump into during your stay. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Peak To Peak Lodge Inc. is a great spot to spend a night or two; Ypsilon Lake is not the only place nearby, The Pool is a nearby lake. All year is a fine time in the Front Range if you like the outdoors. If you need a site to stay Estes Park Condos is a                  magnificent choice, and a lake nearby is Cascade Lake. At Ypsilon Lake through the summer highs are in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 30's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 0's for Ypsilon Lake. ; the month with most of the rain is August while November is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Paddling on Cache La Poudre River is so much fun, and Chasm Falls is an inspiring place to pop by during your stay. Any time is a great time at Ypsilon Lake if you go for the outdoors. Hanging Valley is a good place to check out close by; great hiking is available along the Black Canyon Trail. Ypsilon Lake is one of the lakes here in the Front Range.
