It is very dry here at Wolf Reservoir commonly; August is the month that gets the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you adore the outdoors you'll adore it here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Camping at Cross D Bar Trout Ranch is always a brilliant experience, and going for a hike on the Music Pass Trail is always a glorious adventure. During the warm days of summer here       at Wolf Reservoir, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's while night lows are mostly in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Wolf Reservoir temperatures sink to the 0's. Near Wolf Reservoir you stumble on the Cascade Trail which is a great hiking trail, and a trip to Great Sand Dunes National Monument is worthwhile. Wolf Reservoir is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Pinyon                  Flats Campground is a fine local campground, and you can go for a hike on the Strawberry Trail. Be careful coming to Wolf Reservoir, you might not ever want to go back home again. This lake is so wonderful. South Bruff Creek flows through this region, and you don’t have to go far from Wolf Reservoir to make out the water at Beeman Dam.
