     Colorado has many beautiful lakes and Whitney Lake is one of them. For the period of the warm days of summer here at Whitney Lake, high temperatures usually get into the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows in the 0's for Whitney Lake. Head up to Vail and strap some skis to your feet; you can make out Whitney Peak from Whitney Lake. At Whitney Lake you don’t see much rain;  
   the wettest month of the year is generally July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is February.
This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Christie Lodge is a wonderful choice, and if the weather is splendid, you can go for a hike along the Fall Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart beating on the delightful whitewater of Homestake Creek, and on a tremendous day you can take a hike along the
 
               Half Moon Trail. Beaver Creek is a very popular ski area nearby; you can run the rapids of Eagle River.
But wait, there's more entertaining things to do in the Sawatch Range. Whitney Lake is a tremendous site to visit for more than one day, Gold Park Campground is a tremendous site to camp nearby; people from Edwards love to come here. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sawatch Range. Since you're here at Whitney Lake why not visit Fall Creek Pass, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Lake Constantine. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawatch Range.
Yeah, come here to Whitney Lake for a great time. Looking for some flowing water? Try Fancy Creek. After a long day outdoors The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch is a great site to spend a night or two, and the Main Range Trail is a glorious hiking trail close by. So much enjoyable stuff to do here at Whitney Lake, too glorious to be true. Not far from Whitney Lake, you'll find Tuhare Lakes which is a wonderful lake. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Whitney Lake has to offer, you can camp at Half Moon Campground.

We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch....
