It is very dried up here at West Creek Lake ordinarily; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. This lake is located in the wonderful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. A great close by hotel is Circle R Motel, and if you came for an overnight stay Sugarbush Grocery and Camp is a great site to camp. This lake is so wonderful. Near West Creek Lake you locate       the Round Hill Trail which is a fine hiking trail; if you come at the right time of year, Arkansas River offers some wonderful whitewater. The Hunts Lake Trail is a magnificent hiking trail in the vicinity of West Creek Lake, and from West Creek Lake you obtain a nice view of Red Mountain. And that's not all you can do here at West Creek Lake. Hunts Lake is a perfect lake in the vicinity of West Creek Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if                  it's for you then, we recommend Arkansas River. Summertime highs at West Creek Lake commonly tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's while West Creek Lake night low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. So much entertaining stuff in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, just tremendous. There is a great hiking trail in the vicinity of West Creek Lake called the Simmons Peak Trail; if you need a site to stay Salida-Days Inn is a good choice. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
