Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Park Range. Take a hike on the Eaglesmere Trail; a fine close by hotel is Allington Inn and Suites of Kremmling. This lake is located in the wonderful Park Range. There are some nice whitewater spots on Blue River; Griggs Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could check out.
Not far from Way Reservoir you acquire some nice water scenery at Way Dam, and while you're here, you could also explore wonderful Jones Reservoir.

At Way Reservoir you can make out Sheephorn Mountain, and good skiing awaits you at Vail. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Piney Lake Trail is brilliant fun; you can stay the night at Red Mountain RV Park.
You imagine that's enough? Just getting warmed up. If you come at the right time of year, Colorado River offers some splendid whitewater; Way Reservoir is not far at all from Silverthorne. All through the days of summer at Way Reservoir highs

are commonly in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Way Reservoir. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff near Way Reservoir.
This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Homestake Condos VR is a perfect place to spend a night or two, and Way Reservoir is right by the Sheep Drive Trail. At Way Reservoir you don’t see much precipitation; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February. But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Park Range. Beaver Creek has pleasant slopes and a friendly staff. There's so much to do here at Way Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Big Green Campground is a glorious location for that.

Well, exhilarating or not, you may want to consider parking your tent and self away from trees.  The forests in the Gore and elsewhere in Colorado are dying, particularly and immediately the pines.  The aspens are dealing plague also, but of a fungi and bacterial nature.  Do NOT camp near trees.......SCARED IN MY LIFE! We set up our tents just before dark as the rain was really starting to come down. The forecast predicted a few small isolated showers along the Continental Davide, earlier in the day. Isolated my ass- it rained hard for about 6 or 7 hours!!! It was around 10pm when I was awaken by a VERY unfamiliar loud crackling, popping, and snapping sound. I've never in my life heard anything that closely resembled the sounds I was hearing. The first one that woke me & lasted about 30 seconds, the next came about 5 minutes later and lasted a few seconds longer. This time after the same noises as before ended, there was a horrific crashing sound that shook the area where my tent was pitched. That's when I realized the tree's were falling due to the rain softening the soil around the Tree roots. I thought for  sure one of the up-rooted tree's were going to crush  me & my tent like a Grape. God must have lent a helping hand because in the morning we counted 17 tree's  that fell. One of the 40 foot tree's landed w/ in 20ft of my tent. That was the one that nearly made me soil my pa...

Upper Piney Lake
15 miles away
We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch....

Coveted as North America's top ski resort, Vail is an extraordinary winter vacation destination. Spanning seven miles are seven legendary Back Bowls, Blue Sky Basin and an expansive front side, blanketed last year with more than thirty-eight feet of powder snow. Under blue sky three hundred days a year and with more groomed terrain than anywhere on the planet, families reconnect and celebrate here from year to year and generation to generation. Coupled with the vision inherent in the spirit of Vail's founders, and a modern day commitment to excellence in all aspects of operation, the vacation experience is world class. From the Vail Snowsports School to the activities and festivals, the shops and spas, dining, nightlife and accommodations, Vail can credibly lay claim to being a resort like nothing on earth....

At the gate you leave the world behind. Nestled at the feet of North America's World Cup mountain, Beaver Creek is a custom-designed resort with the safe, unhurried feel of an Alpine hamlet. From the skating rink in the village square to chocolate-chip cookies served fresh from the oven each afternoon at the lifts, and from the ''Ivy League ski school'' to the world-famous performing arts center, this is perhaps the very best of luxury family skiing. And there is a mountain of prestigious awards for food, wine, and customer service to prove it....
